Alexis Bucha- Museum

The piece of art the spoke to me was created by a man named Willie Cole. When I was exploring the museum, I didn't see this piece of art until I turned around and couldn't figure out what was pointing out at from the wall around. The message that I got from this piece is something that is torn or beat up can still be as beautiful as a rose. Do I believe this work is are? Well of course I do. Art to me is however you make it your own. He took the idea of shoes and made them into a rose. Art to me does not have to meet a certain criteria to me. People make art to please other peoples eyes, and to represent themselves. Yes I do believe that is piece is art. Although it isn't a painting, it catching someone eye and takes there breath away. I would buy this piece and hang it in my house. It is so breath taking. Why do I like it? I love this piece becuase its unique to the other pieces in the museum. I love the way he used torn up shoes of all different shapes and sizes, and made them into a rose. When my shoes get torn up, I normally just throw them away. He found another use for them. I also like the creativity that he used to put this piece of art together.  I don't think many people in this world would have came up with the idea to make shoes look like a rose. And for the shoes to actually look like a rose is so breath taking. Around I keep looking at it, it became to me that it did look like a rose. You can see how he position the center to look like the center of a rose, and then all of the petals ( each shoe) is moving outwards. Another thing that I like about this piece it the way he constructed it. As he moved out of the center he started to pull the shoes out rather and rather. That really makes your eyes point towards the center of the flower. Having clam pieces around this piece make it pop. Its also  on a way itself, because as soon as you see it you want to only focus on that work. So by it being the only piece on the wall doesn't cause peoples attention to wonder to the other pieces, so that you come more connected with the piece. The way I would describe to a person that cant see is, imagine the feeling of a rose and show in your hand. Feel all of the petals, the thick center, and how the petals get longer as they move out of the center. No imagine all different types of shoes that would be each petal of the rose. Thats what this piece of art looks like. Its a beautiful piece of art that uses torn shoes to make a beautiful message.
