Mason Hartley Selfie Response

This paper just proves my point that people will argue about anything.  In my opinion, this is not one of those “constructive” arguments.  Just some people making a bigger deal out of a harmless thing for no reason.  The whole point about how a selfie is selfish.  Unless they’re talking about how they’re selfish by wanting to take the picture themselves then I don’t know where they’re getting that from.  Everybody takes selfies for different reasons.  Yes, some people take a selfie to brag about what they're doing or what they have.  In that perspective the selfie may have a negative aspect. However, it's not the selfie as a whole, it's the photographer.  Some people think too far into selfies and what they are and are becoming.  We've all taken a selfie with something. Even before smart phones.  Getting a new Nikon or Cannon camera and don't know what to photograph.  What do you do? Turn it around and snap a pic of yourself.  Your first selfie.  The reasons for selfies have not evolved as much as how we take them.  I also disagree with the fact that certain people shouldn't be taking selfies.  "Real men don't take selfies."  Yes, women take selfies to their own level and it would be weird for a man to put a pink bunny filter on his face and pucker his lips.  However, there are times when a man is doing something considered manly like getting the hunting kill of his dreams and nobody is there to take a picture.  The only logical thing would be to take the picture yourself.  It's not about the selfie, or who is taking it.  It's about the story.  What is this picture trying to say?  If you want to capture a moment with your friends, it would be selfish to not take a selfie because that means someone would have to be left out standing behind the camera.  How and why people choose to take a selfie is completely up to them.  They will be looked at and judged by the story.  So, whether it's an innocent or negative meaning, it won't go without consequence.
