Garrett Hollowell- Proposal

I'm going to use isolation as the theme for my 100 photos. It seems like an interesting topic to focus on and I won't have to focus on certain objects or people, rather I can just photograph the feeling of isolation they evoke. It's sort of ironic that by focusing on isolation I'll have a lot of freedom in my photos. Instead of having to specifically photograph people, plants, or some other objects, I can photograph it all as long as it conveys the theme of isolation. By isolation, I particularly want to express the feelings of loneliness and solitude. I don't want it to all be depressing and sad though. What I want out of it is to not show isolation in a sad way, but rather a way of showing that it's universal and that everything really does experience it in one way or another. Whether it be a lamp post by itself at night or myself in my dorm alone, my goal is to show that no matter how much may go on with or around something or someone, they all experience isolation in one way or another. Personally, when I look at things I see them alone and don't compare them with their surroundings, so looking for stuff all alone and making it look extra isolated will be fun for me. I tend to feel pretty isolated and in my own head a lot, as I'm sure most others do, so projecting that into my photos should work pretty well is my hope. Instead of pictures with a ton going on where the viewer has a lot to look at, I want my photos to be super focused on a single subject, forcing the viewer to really appreciate the subject and not stuff in the background. Objects in the background will take away from the isolation of the subject, so I'm going to try and really avoid distracting backgrounds. Dark photos and usage of shadows will also help me a lot in this so I'm going to see what I can do with that. The darkness should block out distractions so angles are key to the success of these photos in delivering their message.
