Liz Skinner Arts Fest

This is Rex Nockengust and Gene Allen's Beach Glass Bingo. Rex and Gene began the idea from finding comfort in walking the beaches when stress or in need of relaxation while traveling the world with actors and singers. While walking on the beach, Rex and Gene collected broken glass, marbles,  and stones that looked the most interesting to them. Throughout the years they began the idea of putting them into jewelry pieces with silver and leather to strap them together. They found joy in this hobby and began it as a full time job. I found interest in their jewelry because I thought the colors were so beautiful, the pieces I would defiantly wear, and while looking at one of my favorite pieces Rex told me a story. He said the little piece I was looking at was actually a simple marble he found on the beach of Newfoundland. The marble he said was weathered from the ocean tides that formed a crystallized, shadowed type of glass, He said it looked like baby planets and they did! I loved their work and the stories of their adventures were pleasing to hear.
