Garrett Hollowell- Final Lynda

Garrett Hollowell- Motion Photo

Michael Tyrrell - Final Photos (3 stars or better)

I find myself to agree with most of the photos selected by my peers as the ones that stand out from the others. My favorite photograph in the selection would be the older yellow Chevrolet in the parking lot with the tires reflection through the puddle. I am also proud of the ominous dark lighting of the One Way sign with the bright clouds in the background. Many of these photos appear to be plain at first glance, yet under closer evaluation there is beauty in all aspects of what we associate with transportation. So much of our time is spent on the go today, and many people often just focus on getting themselves from point A to point B. I really enjoyed making these first 100 photographs, and finding the handful of photos that stand out to reveal more. I did run into some difficulties with my original proposal, which intended to focus on clothes and how people represent themselves through what they wear. Over time I eventually decided to focus on this topic, and I am really pleased with how it turned out. Of course, not all of these photos turned out the way I would hope, however most of my classmates recognized that and objectively chose the ones I favored.

The last four images I do not agree belong in the 3 or more star gang. The first image the woman's eye is too far closed for my liking. We see more of her eyelid than her actual eye. The second and third photos were early in my picture taking, and I had not yet realized that photos with flash made the image look a lot better in terms of colors and sharpness. These two eyes just seem out of focus. The last eye I do not agree belongs in the group because the eye is bloodshot. I think it makes the eye look too creepy for my liking. I definitely agree with the rest of the images. A few of the eyes chosen were my favorites as well especially the second eye.
Two eyes I thought looked really beautiful and mesmerizing were the ones below. I thought the odd green-blue of the first eye would attract more attention from my viewers. I also thought the sparkly makeup of the second eye would capture interest. Both photos below were two of my favorites, and I am surprised that my viewers did not feel the same!

I think the images chosen go well with my proposal besides the image of Aileen in her sunglasses. The sunglasses cover up Aileen's eye making us unable to see them. I am pretty sure my classmates enjoyed that picture because they know the story behind Aileen wearing the sunglasses. However, my proposal includes realizing everyone views the world differently, and there are some individuals who view the world behind sunglassed (ex. the visually impaired), but I do not believe Aileen accurately represents this portion of society.

1. do you agree? I agree with most of these however I think a few are not strong enough to be 3 or more stars.

2. there are a few other images I think are stronger that were not selected but for the most part these are my strongest

3. these images all go with my proposal because they are photos that most remind me of Penn State and the beauty around the school I live at
